78 Fore Street

Cranch's Sweetshop, established in Salcombe, Devon in 1869 by Gladys Cranch. Traditionally, the sweets sold were cooked in large copper pans at the back of the store, where Mrs Cranch lived.

The store was sold by the Cranch family in the 70s, and purchased by another local family. We have had the sweetshop since then, and through four generations of our family we have slowly created the Cranch's that everyone is familiar with today, with its pink and white candy stripe, and walls bursting with sweets.

We now specialise in hard-to-find traditional and retro sweets, as well as modern delicacies, and artisan, locally made fudge and chocolates.
In the 1990s we opened another store in nearby Totnes, which with all the tasty treats of our Salcombe store, the floow space was much larger allowing us to branch out and specialise in sweets for people with specific dietary requirements such as Sugar Free, Gluten Free or suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians.

In 2010 we decided to bring our huge range of confectionery online and make it available to those across the world who perhaps could not visit one of our stores in South Devon.
As a small, independently owned and family ran business, we take pride in adding the personal touch and going the extra mile for our customers, so if you are unable to find what you are looking for, or require any help at all- please do not hesitate to get in contact with us.
